Terms of Service
Plain-language terms. You own everything you save. We provide the recall. Either of us can end the relationship any time, and you take your data with you when you go.
Last updated June 2026
Acceptance
By creating an account or using Halo, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you are using Halo on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Halo. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password. If you think your account has been compromised, let us know at support@gethalo.tech immediately.
You are responsible for activity that happens in your account. One account per person: please do not create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Halo to:
- Upload, save, or share content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or that violates the rights of others, including intellectual property rights and privacy rights.
- Attempt to access, interfere with, or disrupt Halo's infrastructure, servers, or other users' accounts.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service in ways not supported by our API or official integrations.
- Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable law, including export control laws, data protection regulations, or laws prohibiting harassment, spam, or fraud.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to Halo without our written permission.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice, depending on the severity of the violation.
Your content and ownership
You own everything you save to Halo. Screenshots, voice notes, photos, links, PDFs, forwarded messages, and any other content you put into your account belongs to you. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your saves.
By using Halo, you grant Halo Inc. a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and index your saved content for the sole purpose of providing the Halo recall service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account. We do not use this license for any other purpose.
You are responsible for the content you save. Do not save material that you do not have the right to store or that is illegal to possess. If you save content that belongs to someone else and they assert a valid copyright claim, we may be required to remove it.
Plans and billing
Halo is offered on three plans:
- Free: Limited saves per month, basic recall, no payment required.
- Halo: Unlimited saves, deeper connections, and the full recall experience.
- Pro: Everything in Halo, plus long video and audio, priority processing, and advanced features.
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually (annual billing carries a discount). Prices are shown at gethalo.tech/pricing and may be displayed in your local currency. Billing occurs at the start of each period. Annual plans are charged for the full year upfront.
We may change our prices with at least 30 days notice. Price changes take effect on your next billing renewal. If a price increase affects you, we will email you before it happens.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. All billing disputes should be directed to support@gethalo.tech.
Cancellation and export
You can cancel your paid plan at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain full access to your paid plan features until then.
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law. If you cancel an annual plan early and believe a refund is appropriate, contact us and we will consider it.
Before you cancel or close your account, you can export everything you have saved as a JSON file from your data page. After account closure, your data is deleted within 30 days and cannot be recovered.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Halo up and running, but we do not guarantee any specific level of uptime. We may update, modify, or discontinue features with or without notice. When we make changes that significantly affect existing functionality, we will announce them in advance where possible.
If we decide to shut down Halo entirely (which is not the plan), we will give you at least 60 days notice and the ability to export your data before we close.
Disclaimers
Halo is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, reliability, or fitness of the service for any particular purpose. Recall results depend on the content you have saved and the questions you ask. Halo may not find everything. It may occasionally retrieve something incorrectly. Always verify information from Halo before acting on it for anything important.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halo Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of Halo, including loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Halo Inc. is incorporated in Delaware. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated version here and email you at least 14 days before the new terms take effect. Continued use of Halo after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
